Jon Jones Remains Champion in UFC 182

A fight dubbed as "Bitter Rivals" started off in a match-up of length vs strength. Both fighters had their share of strikes. Jon Jones was able to take Daniel Cormier down for the first time in Cormier career in the 1st round.

Cormier came out the gates in the 2nd round cutting the distance and delivering blows to the face of Jon Jones. Jones started to figure the inside game and responded back with vicious elbows near the closing of the round.

Round 3 begun as a dogfight, until an accidental eye poke took place. The fight resumed and the grueling pace continued.

Neither men like to go down as history shows in their past fights, but Jones would deliver a slam and continue an elbow arsenal when leaned against the fence in the 4th.

The 5th and final round you can see the exhaustion in the fighters faces, but someone has to be declared the winner. Jones with the upper hand in the fight did what no other fighter has done to Cormier. Jon Jones outlanded Daniel Cormier in strikes and was able to toss down Cormier twice in this Championship contest.

Daniel Cormier slammed Jones to the mat in retaliation in the 5th, but it may have been a little to late to win the hearts of the judges. The Champion, Jon Jones handed Daniel Cormier his 1st loss and remained the Light Heavyweight title holder with unanimous decision.

Seem like these two combatants will remain "bitter rivals" in this grudge match as "Bones" Jones told the fans to return their Cormier shirts and that the trash talk before the event was only motivation for Jones victory.

A great contest and not even a month away UFC will end January with another mega fight card, once again in Vegas as Anderson Silva takes on Nick Diaz.
